Academy Committees
The
Academy has implemented 8 new committees to help facilitate “action” toward the goals of
The Academy rather than just “activity.” The
following is a brief description of each new committee, along
with the name and contact information of each Chair.
ACADEMY DEVELOPMENT
Develop Academy programs that
enable the organization to be recognized as providing the support
and programs that are meaningful to mediators. Improve The
Academy as a professional association.
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
Evaluate
and develop the best ways to most effectively and economically
conduct the day-to-day business of The Academy.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Support business objectives
of The Academy mediators. Consider matters related to operating
a for-profit mediation business.
GOALS AND STRATEGIES
Facilitate the development
of The Academy goals and strategies to guide the organization’s
activities and resources in both the short term (1 year) and long
term (5 years).
MEDIATION ADVOCACY
Promote mediation as a superior
process for resolving disputes. Educate the public and specific
stakeholders about mediation as a process.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Support the professional
objectives of The Academy mediators. Consider matters relating
to the professional needs of our member mediators.
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Identify
and evaluate resources, programs, and services available from
other organizations or sources that the committees can utilize.
TECHNOLOGY AND WEBSITE
Create
technology and website strategies that are needed to support
the goals of The Academy.
