This training will discuss how various statutes, rules, and court orders impact parties, their representatives, attorneys, and non-party participants’ appearance at mediation. Participants will learn to distinguish between the requirements set by small claims procedure and civil procedure rules; requirements pertain to appearance in county mediations. This training will identify the ethical considerations mediators make under the Florida Supreme Court Rules for Certified and Court Appointed Mediators. This training will also explore the appropriateness of various non-party participants’ presence in county mediations, including: interpreters, observers, party representatives, and family members.
Presenter Bio:
Tyler Kelley is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit, Family, Dependency and County Mediator. He is a contract mediator with Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit; a panelist on the Florida Department of Financial Services’ mediation panel; Approved Assistant Trainer in County Mediation; member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators; graduate of the Florida A and M University College of Law; and handles various private mediation matters.
